Gerard’s Family Holiday Photoshoot at Seminyak Beach & Hotel Indigo Bali

Gerard, a client from Australia, visited Bali in April 2025 for a short and meaningful family holiday with his small family of three—his wife and their lovely young boy. Staying in the heart of Seminyak at the beautiful Hotel Indigo Bali, Gerard wanted to capture genuine moments of their time together through a Bali family photoshoot. Instead of formal portraits, he asked us to document their holiday in a relaxed and natural way, focusing on candid family interactions on the beach right in front of the hotel where they stayed.

The photoshoot took place in two locations. We started inside Hotel Indigo, using its stylish tropical design and greenery as a calm and intimate backdrop. After that, we continued to Seminyak Beach, which is conveniently located just steps away from the hotel. Since Gerard preferred a candid approach, we encouraged them to simply enjoy the moment—walking, playing, and laughing together with their son, just like a normal family holiday at the beach. While most of the session focused on natural movement and interaction, we also added a few lightly directed poses to create more visual variety without losing the authentic feeling.

For the beach session, I personally love editing some images in black and white. Black and white photography works beautifully for family photoshoots because it removes distractions from colors and allows emotions, expressions, and connections to stand out more strongly. It gives the images a timeless and classic feel, making the moments feel even more meaningful. Overall, the session ran smoothly—great weather, a warm and easygoing family, and a relaxed atmosphere made everything effortless. The final results were fantastic, capturing honest moments that truly reflect Gerard’s family holiday in Seminyak.
